Every aspect of this wedding location is utterly divine. From the outdoor sunset terrace to it’s Mediterranean gardens, and not forgetting the large indoor kitchen. Villa Paissa d’en Bernat is a small family-run villa that is well known by its flawless reputation. The private property lays alone, with no immediate neighbours, in the pine forest of San Jose on the east cost of the island. The magic of this Ibiza wedding venue is that the place becomes your home, which means you really get to immerse yourself into the experience of getting married abroad and also get to share this moment with those you love the most.
The villa has this very special vibe that slows you down as soon as you step foot inside, but during the sunset time, this feeling intensifies. The sun paints the trees with golden tones and the main facade goes from a light sandy colour to intense golden orange. The world stops for a few minutes and you sink into the moment. This is when the famous Ibiza sunset reminds you that you are blessed, and everything is as it should be. Now, Imagine that feeling with the sun on your face, on the happiest day of your life.
The styling of this shoot was chosen with the venue’s beauty in mind. Deep rich, luxurious and sultry colours, paired with simplicity and class. The bridesmaid dresses are beautifully designed and made by local Ibiza rock chick Kim Seymour, for her brand De Las Flores. The slip dessses with a simple yet cool 90’s vibe are everything right now, and all over the catwalks of Europe. The dresses are Flattering in a choice of colours, and will turn up the heat of your bridal party in two seconds flat! The dresses are versatile and upon request can be made in white, perhaps for an Ibiza bride who wants to change later on in the evening, so she can dance the night away in style.
Hair Styling on this shoot was ultra slick, with Nicola Day pinning the brides hair in a chic Gatsby inspired up do, and even slicking back our modest grooms long locks. MUA KC used beautiful warm tones on the girls make-up and I made some pretty floral headbands for the bridesmaids to bring the full look together. This bridal parties sleek look and persona, was totally stylish and absolute wedding goals! Using the stunning velvet furniture from The Ibiza Chair Company finished this scene off with uber sophistication. How amazing that you can hire in chill out areas and furnishings for a cute little corner of your wedding venue, so you can sip sangria and relax in style, it simply adds an extra little something.
For this shoot I introducd live music. With the breathtaking infinity pool, how could I not ask the Musical Mermaids to be a part of this day? The Mermaids are one of my favourite Ibiza wedding bands. The girls are some of the most talented musicians on the island, and having worked with them all as a group and separately, I can say that they are not only super professional, but laid back and so lovely to work with. Who wouldn’t want live singing mermaids serenading guests at their wedding??
Fairytale Ibiza found a perfect spot to create a magical children’s garden, with dress up boxes, a craft area and slumber tents. A secret garden, where the kids can safely go to play and create while the adults party, sounds like heaven to me! We set up the day a little different to how weddings usually are at Paissa. We placed a long family style table at the sunset view point, where ceremonies generally take place, and used a cute little platform area for the ceremony and couple shots. This is also possible on your wedding day at this venue if you wish, and we can even move things around for you during the day to make sure you get the maximum benefits of each beautiful part of this villa venue. I loved the mustard napkins and gold plates, that complimented the jade green cocktail glasses, and I created a hanging table plan for the terrace area, something I have wanted to do for a while now. As a wedding planner, I am in my element getting to create new things and work with fabulous suppliers and creatives alike so much so, that in fact, I may even run out of shoots this summer!
“Once a year, usually in the month of April, we hold a tasting event in which all the couples that have their weddings that year with us, get together to experience their wedding meal, so in a way, couples get to be guests for one time only, at this enchanting wedding venue!” Cristina is super proud of this yearly tasting event and quite rightly so, it really is a special evening that clients remember as part of their full wedding experience.
I sat with Cristina at her home of Paissa d?en Bernat, and shared a few moments of tranquillity. No interruptions or noise, no distractions, I honestly could have sat there all day long. I literately did not want to leave, and found myself wishing that I was the next lucky bride to be staying here. Having five beautiful Ibicencan bedrooms for you and your bridal party to stay in during the wedding week, makes it easy and stress free on the wedding morning and after the party. Cristina wants you to feel at home, so staying on site is the perfect way to relax into your stay and feel totally comfortable throughout the actual wedding too.
My style of planning is so personal and bespoke, that I just love a venue with a family story as it suits my style and my ethics. Cristinas parents built this venue themselves when they first arrived in Ibiza, and their family home still has a warm loving feeling that has carried through to a sensational venue venue, I love that! We ended the day by tucking into a traditional Spanish feast of tapas, washed down with some cocktails and perfectly crisp wine, all kindly made by Cris and her team at The Black Box Truck. The mouth watering food was delicious and fresh, and exactly what we all needed after a long day shooting. This moment sealed in the perfect day, where we all came together as a team, as friends, as a strong industry, and took a moment to appreciate our surroundings and of course, each other.
